Greg loads the ice onto the Band Saw

Tilt the block back

Slide the block back near the blade & tilt the table back to upright

Load another block & set the band saw to the desired height

Start the Band Saw & push through the ice

Turn the slabs sideways (so they don't stick)

Tilt the slabs off the table onto a padded dollie

Reset the height of the band saw & cut again

Tilt the slabs off the table onto a padded dollie

We start with 9.5" thick ice & make cuts at 5.5" & 1.5"

This allows us to get two 4" slabs from our blocks with the worst core lines.  The 1.5" gets wasted.

With our  volume, a band saw  is a necessity.
